Autistic children have more neurons, researchers say
A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that autistic children had an average of 67% more neurons compared with children without autism. Researchers reported that children with autism had 79% more neurons found in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and 29% more in the mesial prefrontal cortex. The results were obtained from the postmortem brain tissue analysis of seven boys with autism and six boys without autism aged 2 to 16 years old. Yahoo!/HealthDay News (11/8)
